Seiren Voice, also rendered in capital letters as SEIREN VOICE, is a voice conversion software for Windows, developed by Hiroshiba Kazuyu (廣芝和之), also known as "Hiho" (ヒホ), in collaboration with Dwango Co., Ltd. and was released in May 2022. Seiren Voice uses AI technology to convert a user's voice into the voice of the desired character. Through the pursuit of quality, Seiren Voice claims to be capable of achieving a human-like voice without engine noise that is typical of voice changers.[1]
Etymology[]
According to Hiho, Seiren Voice takes its name after the mythical Siren from Greek mythology. In an interview with DTM STATION, Hiho describes Seiren Voice's origin according to the myth that "a siren would seduce people sailing from a reef on the sea route with her beautiful singing voice and sink them into the sea... but with the Seiren Voice, it's like luring people into the swamp...". With a focus on quality, it is Hiho's belief that "there are many people who would want to become the voice of a character, or would want to become one. To achieve that, it's important that the voice that comes out sounds exactly like that character."[2]
History[]
On May 17, 2022 Dwango Co., Ltd. began sales of a new AI voice conversion software known as "Seiren Voice". Unlike conventional voice synthesis using input of characters called TTS (Text to Speech), this system inputs a person's spoken voice and replaces the pronunciation, intonation, speed, pauses, etc. of the voice with the target character's voice as if tracing it, achieving extremely high-quality voice synthesis. The first products released for the software were Yuzuki Yukari and Kotonoha Akane & Aoi and are available for download at ¥19,800 yen each (tax included). Seiren Voice was designed to run on Windows 10/11 operating systems, but in order to run it, users must have a NVIDIA GPU with a certain level of specifications. A trial version was released as a result, allowing users to check the compatibility fir their PC environments.
