ROSE (ローズ) is a Japanese Song Voice developed and distributed by Bushiroad Inc., and released for CeVIO AI in December 2022. She is based on the multimedia project BanG Dream! idol Minato Yukina,[1] and is part of the BanG Dream! AI Singing Synthesizer project titled Yumenokessho (夢ノ結唱).[2]

Her voice is provided by Aina Aiba (相羽 あいな; Aiba Aina), a singer and voice actress who also provided her vocals for Minato Yukina.

Concept[]

ROSE is a representation of Minato Yukina, a character of the BanG Dream! franchise, for CeVIO AI. She is a third-year student at Haneoka Girls' High School, and is the leader and vocalist of Roselia.

On her official profile, Yukina is noted to be a powerful vocalist who sparks the admiration of the other Roselia members. She has a strong-willed and stubborn personality and doesn't smile much in public. She pursues her beliefs with reckless devotion, causing her to be blind to everything else around her. She is best friends with Imai Lisa and considers Mitake Ran to be somewhat of a rival. She has a weak spot for cats.[3]

Bandori Project producer, Nemoto Yuki (根本雄貴), explained during the "BanG Dream! Summer Grand Presentation 2022" (バンドリ!夏の大発表会 2022) live broadcast that while the character is based on Minato Yukina, the Song Voice library is meant to capture the sounds of Roselia and was named ROSE as a result, short for the band name.[4]

Etymology[]

ROSE's name comes from Minato Yukina's band name Roselia.

Appearance[]

ROSE's appearance is based off of Minato Yukina. As such, they share many similarities, such as long, wavy, light grey hair with thick bangs, and fierce, pale yellow eyes. Her hair is adorned with a lacy off-white, translucent veil and three diamond-shaped spots of color. On her left cheek is a light blue and purple marking. ROSE wears a short dark grey sleeveless dress with a black rose print. Tied around the collar of her dress is a large, skinny black ribbon and a blue bow tied behind her neck. She wears black detached sleeves with frilly blue hems and thin thorn-like straps around her shoulders. Metal clamps with blue, futuristic detailing fasten over the sleeves and around the bend of her arm. A black ruffled corset with yellow strings and black buttons is fastened around her abdomen with a detachable blue and black-tiered skirt with the fabric being stylized to look like rose petals. She wears a pair of long, thigh-high black and purple high-heeled boots with black rings encircling her thighs adorned with orange, blue, white, and purple lights.

ROSE's illustration was designed and illustrated by yonemuro (米室), a Japanese illustrator.

2022[]

On June 23, 2022, Minato Yukina's Song Voice was officially revealed under the new name "ROSE" alongside Toyama Kasumi's CeVIO AI Song Voice, POPY.[5] A promotional teaser video was released and an official story-writing contest was launched through monogatary.com with the intent of creating stories of newborn girls playing an active role under the theme of "Yumenokessho" (夢ノ結唱), which is also the title of the CeVIO AI project. The story that is selected for the grand prize will be made into a song by VOCALOID producer Kemu. A second contest, in collaboration with"Sakuga King GRAND-PRIX" (作画王グランプリ), was also announced to be held in autumn 2022 with the theme of the created song. A music video featuring all participants will be produced following the contest.[6][7] The results of the Yumenokessho monogatary.com story-writing contest concluded on September 29, with the Grand Prize winner announced to be Trapezoid (著・台形) with their original story titled "Blooming Song".[8] The story describes a young woman who passed through her teenage days and was entering adulthood. While not dissatisfied with her ordinary days, a fire burned deep within her heart that hasn't gone out yet with a love for music. She meets POPY and ROSE, AIs who want to be someone's dream.[9]

On October 3, it was announced that works featuring ROSE were accepted on Piapro, a well-known Japanese center of the VOCALOID, and extensively, voice synthesizer community.[10]

On November 20, ROSE was featured in an official BanG Dream livestream showcasing her first official demo song Ringing Bloom.[11] The demo was uploaded separately to the newly created official Yumenokessho YouTube channel reserved for her Song Voice as well as POPY's.[12] A new Twitter account was also created for the project as well as an official bilibili account and a Niconico channel.[13] Two release dates were given: December 21, 2022 for the download version and February 28, 2023 for the packaged versions.[14][15][16] In addition, a special BanG Dream! Music Cover Project was announced for the production of a CD including a collection of various cover songs from BanG Dream! using each characters' respective vocals to be included in the Starter Pack editions.[17] The finalists for the Sakuga King GRAND-PRIX Grand Prix Collaboration Contest would be announced on the official Yumenokessho TOKYOMX broadcast. The official music video featuring all participants is planned to be released on December 23, 2022.[18] Following was the announcement of a new Yumenokessho Composition Contest where winning entries may have the opportunity of being performed live by Toyama Kasumi and Minato Yukina.[19]

The Yumenokessho Composition Contest entry deadline closed on November 30 with 341 entries.[20][21] The eight finalists were announced on December 15 including: Fty, obakeP (おばけP), YumemitaP (夢魅たぴ), muscatone (ますかっと), Itoi (イトイ), Sumia, Hmt2, and omi.[22][23] Details regarding the participant music video and additional contest details were released on the official BanG Dream website.[24][25] Additional contests were announced to be in consideration for the future.[26] Of the eight finalists, four of the producers would be composing music for ROSE and four for POPY repectively.[27]
