RIA (リア) is a vocal synthesizer character derived from the Virtual YouTuber RIA, who made her initial debut in 2018 at the time using the voice of VOICEROID Kizuna Akari. Following a successful crowdfunding campaign beginning in October 2021, RIA was released as a Japanese A.I.VOICE text-to-speech library through the A.I.VOICE Junior program in collaboration with AI, Inc. in July 2022. She was updated to A.I.VOICE2 in November 2024.

Her voice is provided by the Japanese voice actress and announcer Yurie Kozakai (小坂井祐莉絵, Kozakai Yurie).

Concept[]

RIA is a virtual life form that lives in the cyber world.

RIA debuted as a Virtual YouTuber in September 2018, without a human voice. She was able to speak and sing using the help of the VOICEROID Kizuna Akari. RIA is also a composer, and has produced various original songs since her debut, and more than 30 of which include instrument arrangements. She is also engaged in music activities, such as composing lectures to convey the joy of making songs, voice training videos, etc. on YouTube , and a virtual live of personal production once a year.

Originally, the project started with the desire to create an original voice for the VTuber RIA, and was decided to sell it to the general public as a voice synthesis software. The goal of RIA is to get in touch with various people and create various creative activities together.

It should be noted that A.I.VOICE RIA is considered a separate entity to VTuber RIA.[1]

Etymology[]

RIA's name comes from the original VTuber RIA's name. To distinguish the two, the A.I.VOICE vocal is written in English "RIA", while the VTuber is referred to her name in Kana "リア".[2]

Appearance[]

RIA's illustration is based off of the original VTuber RIA design retaining many of the same details namely RIA's long brown hair tied into a ponytail, her signature pink jacket and black and white striped leggings.

RIA's A.I.VOICE Junior illustration is illustrated by yakitori-chan (焼き鳥ちゃん), a Japanese illustrator known for their Live2D work and pixel art.

History[]

On June 24, preorder reservations started for RIA.[6] A special live broadcast hosted by AI, Inc. was streamed allowing viewers to ask questions using the hashtag "#アイボス生".[7][8] The release date was set for July 8, 2022 and would be releasing as both download and physical packaged editions on the A.I.VOICE Official Shop, Amazon, Vector PC Shop and DLsite respectively as well as other mass retailers.[9][10]
