Minase Kou (水奈瀬コウ) is a Japanese vocal synthesizer character developed by AH-Software Co. Ltd.. He is capable of speaking and was released as a VOICEROID+ EX voicebank in October 2015. He later received a text-to-speech library for VOICEPEAK in August 2024.[1]
His voice provider is Daisuke Motohashi (本橋大輔; Motohashi, Daisuke), who was revealed on October 27th, 2023.[2]
Concept[]
Kou is described as a gentle teacher who is good at weaving proverbs into his words. His subject specialty is in Japanese language, and he enjoys playing basketball.[3]
He is the younger brother of Minase Rito who are said to have a good relationship with each other.
Etymology[]
Kou's family name, Minase, doesn't have a clear origin. The kanji can be broken up into "mizu" (水), "na" (奈), and "se" (瀬) - the first and last of which respectfully can mean "water" and "rapids" or "shallows", indicating a water theme. The second kanji, "na," could be a reference to the city of Nara, or the Nara prefecture (奈良).
"Kou" is a common, gender neutral first name.
Appearance[]
In his VOICEROID+ EX boxart, Kou is depicted as an adult with orange hair and blue eyes. He wears a white dress shirt beneath a green hoodie with a brown jacket that goes over it, as well as a red tie and pink headphones. A pair of red glasses hangs from the breast pocket of his brown jacket. He wears baggy purple pants and white shoes with pink accents and brown laces. He's seen carrying a notebook with "academic diary" written on it, as well as a pointer with a white cat paw at the tip.
In his VOICEPEAK boxart, Kou has light blue eyes and orange hair parted to the side. He wears a green and purple shirt underneath a white button-up with a popped collar, green accents and white and purple cuffs. A black blazer with green cufflinks is tied around his waist and he wears black pants with a green stripe that fades to purple on both legs. He wears black and white shoes with a purple accent. Like his VOICEROID+ EX boxart, he has pink headphones around his neck and red glasses in his breast pocket.
