Koharu Rikka (小春六花) is a vocal synthesis character developed by TOKYO6 ENTERTAINMENT in collaboration with AH-Software Co. Ltd..[2] She was released as Standard and AI voice databases for Synthesizer V Studio in March 2021.[3] She was formerly announced as a VOICEROID product[4], but was instead developed and released for CeVIO AI for speech at the same time as her Synthesizer V Studio voice databases.[5][6]. She was released as a VOICEPEAK text-to-speech library in July 2023, more than two years after her CeVIO and Synthesizer V releases, and as a VoiSona Talk Voice in June 2024.
Her voice provider is Aoyama Yoshino (青山吉能).
Concept[]
Koharu Rikka is described to be a high school sophomore. She's 160 cm tall, and she has a teddy bear companion named LAKISTON. The rest of her character is deliberately left open to interpretation.[7]
Her birthday is May 16, the same day she was announced.
Etymology[]
Koharu (小春) is derived from the word "koharubiyori" (小春日和), which literally translates to "little spring weather," but is more commonly referred to as an "Indian summer." Akasakov, the CEO of TOKYO6, mentioned in AHS' 156th livestream that he chose this name for her because he wanted fans to be reminded of a soothing and relaxing spring day.[8]
Rikka (六花) can be translated literally as "six flowers," but it also references snow. As the snow pseudonym is widely used in poetry written during the Song Dynasty, it's hoped that her name will help her appeal more to fans in China.[9]
Appearance[]
She is a high school sophomore with short silver hair. While her hair is pulled up into two small buns on either side of her head, the rest of her hair is not pulled up. She also has a small flower clip on the left side of her bangs. Her eye color is a soft blend of purple and red.
Rikka wears a standard school uniform - a grey top with a pink bow, and a dark blue/white accented long sleeved jacket over it. She also wears a short, dark blue, pleated skirt, white knee-high socks and pink/white shoes with a lavender bow on top of each.
LAKISTON, her companion, is a stuffed bear with small black horns and black claws. It wears a green/white/blue bow and has small angel wings on its back.

History[]
Marketing[]
She was announced on May 16th, 2020[10], with official illustrations and information, including who her voice provider would be with examples, and the schedule and goals of her crowdfunding campaign. Her crowdfunding campaign began on May 28th, 2020, with a goal of 7 million yen for her VOICEROID product and 400 exVOICE samples. The crowdfunding campaign reached that goal approximately 15 minutes after it went live.[11]
The campaign's first stretch goal was 10 million yen, which was hit not long after the initial goal of 7 million yen was reached. The stretch goals for 13 million yen and 16 million yen were reached as well just a couple of hours after the campaign went live.[12] All stretch goal rewards involved additional emotional parameters (one new emotion for each stretch goal reached) and additional exVOICE recordings, including a set recorded with a binaural microphone for an ASMR effect.
In response to all of her stretch goals being reached in record time, TOKYO6 tweeted that they would consider additional stretch goals.[13] The first confirmed additional stretch goal was a 3D model of Rikka that would be included with her VOICEROID software if the campaign reached 19 million yen.[14] This additional stretch goal was reached within the first 24 hours of the campaign being live as well.
The final stretch goal for the campaign was 25 million yen, which would give Rikka the funds to receive a singing synthesizer bank if reached.[15] This amount was reached on June 6th, 2020, about a week and a half after the campaign began, though the actual synthesizer was not specified at the time.[16] On June 26th, 2020, Synthesizer V Studio was revealed as her singing engine.[17]
On August 8th, 2020, it was announced that recording for her Synthesizer V bank had started.[18]
On October 30th, 2020, it was announced that development of her speech voicebank has been switched from the VOICEROID2 engine to CeVIO AI.[19]
She is planned to have live music performances, collaborations with other companies, and more.[20]
