Kobayashi Kotaro (小林小太郎 more commonly written as 小林コタロー), also known as Kotaro, The Detective Boy, is a Japanese character from "Tsuina, the Ogre Hunter Project" (鬼っ子ハンターついなちゃん). He was announced to be receiving a pitagoe set of voice recordings in March 2024, to be distributed by AH-Software Co. Ltd..
His voice provider is voice actress Aoki Kanata (葵木奏向), from the talent agency Inspion Agency.
Concept[]
Kobayashi Kotaro is a childhood friend of Takato Saki. He's a first-year student (or freshman) at Atsugaki Middle School and the president of the school's newspaper club. He is also the second son of the mayor of Atsugaki City, the city Kisaragi Tsuina lives in.[2] His studies are pretty good but he's in his rebellious phase: since his father is rarely at home, the two don't get along well. He bickers with Tsuina a lot, making fun of her, fighting with her, and even treating her like she's younger than him because of her height, but the truth is, he has a crush on the strong Tsuina-chan fighting against yokai and is oblivious to his own feelings, which infuriates Saki, who in turn has a crush on Kotaro.[3] He has an insecurity complex about his height, especially the fact that Saki is taller than him. He's right before his growth period so he's shorter than average. He gets mad when you call him short though. He spends his days in the newspaper clubs investigating the yokai incidents in Atsugaki City. He has a secret he can't tell anyone.
Additional concept profiles for him were revealed on his official "Tsuina, the Ogre Hunter Project" debut article on Fantia. Kotaro's deep secret is that he actually has an older brother he was close to, however he was attacked by a mysterious yokai who stole his face and went missing. Kotaro and Saki witnessed this while hiding, and this became their dark secret only the two of them shared. His brother's existence was wiped from the memories of everyone except for the two of them. Kotaro vows to find his brother and take revenge on the mysterious yokai, and through the activities of the newspaper club, he pursues the case of the yokai on a daily basis.[4]
