Kyann Jung, also known as KYANN (キアン) (formerly known as Kriss and Kevin Futarine), is a vocal synthesizer character developed for the UTAU and DiffSinger vocal synthesis engines and is the first French vocal produced for UTAU and was developed by the Fraloids group. His was first released for UTAU in 2009 and has had numerous subsequent releases. In addition to his French vocal he also has a Japanese and an English vocals. KYANN's voice is provided by French cover artist Kaiji, and was illustrated by French illustrator Hibya.[1]

Concept[]

KYANN is the mascot of the Fraloids group and therefore was the character that was updated and rebooted the most frequently. As of 2023, his reboots were divided into 5 eras: RETRO, STUDIO, NEXUS, SPECTRUM and VORTEX. His backstory is different for each of his incarnations.

Lore[]

In the VORTEX era, KYANN is the same KYANN as the one from the HAZE and DAZE universes from the SPECTRUM era, it's more of a continuation of their story, rather than a full reboot.

KYANN AI is still the same KYANN as KYANN HAZE & DAZE V2, but two years later. This version of KYANN has regained most of his memories from his past selves after crossing the VORTEX, this is why he changed his main outfit to feature elements from all his previous incarnations.

In the VORTEX era, KYANN HAZE and DAZE got transported through the VORTEX and fused into a single being, able to shift between two different forms. The VORTEX he has gone through was opened by some Fraloids trapped in some kinds of limbo and trying to escape in a new universe.

SPECTRUM is a multiverse era, which means that the different representations of KYANN (SPECTRUM, STEAM, VAPOR, HAZE and DAZE) all have different backstories.

In the SPECTRUM Timeline, KYANN is 25 years old and lives on present day Earth that kept a cyberpunk/retro-wave aesthetic. He was born a single child. He is an amalgamation of all the previous incarnations of KYANN, as he is the result of their fusion to end the breach of reality. His companion, his a robot called CAELUS.

STEAM and VAPOR are KYANN variants from two interlocked universes. They are both 25 years old and live on a present day Earth that keeps a Disco aesthetic. Like all the other KYANN's from the SPECTRUM Multiverse, they are both single children. Both of them share the power of superhuman strength, resulting in their bulkier appearance. They both have a robot companion that doubles as a weight plate called ALT-R (although they both have different models)

Like STEAM and VAPOR, HAZE and DAZE are also KYANN variants from a set of interlocked universes. They are also 25 years old, but live on a slightly futuristic earth , with a darker cyberpunk aesthetic. They both are influencers (mostly streamers) and have the power of mind control. They both have a robot companion that doubles as a lighting rig, called LUMOS

In the NEXUS Timeline, KYANN is 24 years old and lives on present day Earth where he was born a single child. He has the power of observing different universes and timelines. His companion in this incarnation is a smart watch with and AI called Ann-X

In the STUDIO VP1 Timeline, KYANN is 19 years old. He lives in a futuristic society on Earth. He was raised by three robots, Artibus, Logos and Numerous after the death of his parents and sister. He survived the fatal car accident that killed his family thanks to his power of controlling the Dream Realm and navigate between two parallel universes.

STUDIO VP2 & VPA is the same KYANN during, and after the storyline of the STUDIO VP2 universe. VP2 is located on the parallel universe from VP1, separated only by the Dream Realm. However, this universe is a dystopia, where the entire world is controlled by the military forces of an unnamed antagonist. Although this universe is set in the future, the wartime theme gives it a slight 1940s era feel.

In the RETRO Timeline, KYANN is a 18 year old Space Warrior, traveling through time and space with his twin sister Kate and his mentor Lara Miraion after Earth was taken over by Melanie Kusarune, forcing humans to either leave the planet, or live in poverty. In this incarnation, KYANN doesn't have any special ability, but has an alien companion called "Kevy".

Etymology[]

KYANN comes from "Kyanite", a type of gemstone. It is also a derivative of the celtic male name "Cían". His surname Jung is a germanic surname popular in Alsace and Germany, it translates to "young".
