Gahata Meiji (()(はた)メイジ) was a combination of a fashion model and singer, currently in collaboration with the Lifulu shop. She was based around a theme of magic and fantasy, and had multiple multipitch VCV voicebanks. Despite being inactive, she is still one of the more popular voicebanks and is known for being high quality.

Concept[]

Meiji was a witch. She was a combination of a fashion model and singer, and based around a theme of magic and fantasy. She was "a bit of a dreamer" and "yearns to be a heroine". She had a little demon companion/servant, named Frill. It was a genderless creature that looked like a dressed candle with wings and a tail. It was described as a fragile and emotional being, and its flame size and color changed depending on its mood.

Etymology[]

Gahata means sound banner or sound flag, and Meiji comes from the Japanese spelling of the word "mage".

Appearance[]

Meiji has long white hair that goes down to her chest, and fades to a dark pink twords the ends. She usually parts her hair in the back and wears it in front of her on her shoulders. She keeps her hair back with a dark purple headband. She has pink eyes with long white eyelashes. She wears a backless dress with a corset-style jacket worn over it, the sleeves of which cover her hands, a long purple tie that ends to her waist, and a purple bat ring on her right ring finger. She also wears tight, dark purple stockings which follow a rainbow-like pattern, much like her dress, and purple high heels with purple ties on her feet, which are about about 8-9 cm tall

History[]

Two years after Meiji's release, Saccu began releasing append-like voicebanks themed around fairy tales and magic. These voicebanks cover a considerable amount of singing styles and genres and are considered the successors to the original three voicebanks. All of her voice banks were able to be downloaded on her official voicebank download page. These voicebanks were released on March 8, 2014.

As of November 11, 2019, Meiji has been discontinued and her website and voicebanks are no longer available. She has been succeeded by Saccu's newer UTAUs, Jyougasaki Bibi and Toujoh Wistaria. However, those who downloaded Meiji's voicebanks prior to her discontinuation are still free to continue using them.

Reputation[]

Reaction[]

Meiji is known for her high-quality vocals and human-like vocals.

On July 2014, Sasaki Wataru (also known as Wat), Crypton Future Media VOCALOID developer and creator of Hatsune Miku, announced Meiji would be used in the development of Megurine Luka V4X as a template to bring out the unique qualities of Luka's voice provider, Asakawa Yuu.[1] It is also rumored that she inspired the development of a growl feature in Vocaloid 4, though no evidence to support this has been found.

Misc[]

Meiji has an official MMD model created by MMD modeler hatuki. It was initially introduced by Saccu through a video on Niconico and can be downloaded on bowlroll. The password is majo.

Trivia[]

  • Even after Meiji's retirement, Saccu made a reference to Meiji when playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons, designing an in-game dress based on one of Meiji's witch design.[2]
